I like abstract organic forms. I painted this self-cultivating individual, a meditation figure, with reference to one of my orchid flower still life paintings. Mosquito, shock, slap, corpse, and revulsion are interludes that happened in this time and space as I paint, and similarly, as I learn and meditate. These interludes jolted me out of the original calm and harmony, echoing the perpetual impermanent state in painting as a spiritual practice.
